Getting Started
What is FrameSort and how does it work?+

FrameSort is an AI-powered photo culling tool built for photographers. You drop your photos in, and the AI automatically analyses every frame for sharpness, exposure, and similarity — then sorts them into Good Photos, AI Edited, Best Picks, and Rejected.

The entire process runs inside your browser using your own device’s computing power. Your photos are never uploaded to any server, never stored anywhere, and never leave your device.

✓ No server. No upload. No cloud. 100% private.
Do I need to install anything?+

Nothing to install. FrameSort is a single web page — open it in your browser and it works immediately. Compatible with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on Windows, Mac, and any modern device.

It also works offline once the page has loaded — ideal if you’re culling on location without reliable internet.

What is the difference between Starter and Pro?+

Starter (₹999) — Up to 500 photos per batch. All 3 analysis modes (Full Analysis, Quick Cull, Best Picks Only), blur and exposure detection, auto-correction, best pick clustering, ZIP export with custom file naming, iPhone HEIC support.

Pro (₹1,499) — Everything in Starter plus: up to 1,000 photos per batch, full-screen manual editor with 8 adjustment sliders (exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, saturation, warmth, tint, sharpness), split before/after view, duplicate photo detection, and a trash system for safe recovery of accidentally rejected photos.

Both plans are one-time payments. No subscription. No renewal.
Can I try before I buy?+

Yes. Sign up with your email or Google account and you get one full free session — process a complete batch of photos end-to-end at no cost. You can view results, review categories, and download nothing changes. After your free session, you’ll need to purchase a plan to process more batches.

We recommend using the free session on a real shoot so you can see the time saving firsthand before deciding.

How do I sign up?+

Click Try Free Demo on the website. You’ll be prompted to sign in with either:

  • Google — one click, instant access
  • Magic Link — enter your email, we send a sign-in link, click it in your inbox. No password needed.

Your account is created automatically on first sign-in. No forms, no profile setup.

Privacy & Your Files
Do my photos get uploaded to your servers?+

Absolutely not. This is the most important thing to understand about FrameSort. All photo processing — blur detection, exposure analysis, clustering, best pick scoring — happens entirely within your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API.

We have no servers that receive your images. We have no storage for your photos. Even if we wanted to, we couldn’t access your photos — they never leave your machine.

✓ Safe to use with client photos. No confidentiality concerns.
What data does FrameSort collect?+

We collect only what’s necessary to run the service:

  • Your email address — used for account creation and occasional product updates
  • Sign-in method — whether you used Google or email link
  • Usage timestamps — when you first signed up, last used the tool
  • Plan status — whether your trial is active or you’ve purchased a plan

We collect zero information about your photos, shoot details, client names, or anything related to the images you process. That data never reaches us.

Are my photos saved anywhere after I close the browser?+

No. When you close the browser tab, everything is gone. FrameSort holds your photos temporarily in your browser’s memory while you work — the moment the tab is closed, that memory is cleared. Nothing is written to disk, nothing is saved to a cloud, nothing persists.

This means you need to download your ZIP files before closing the tab if you want to keep the results of your session.

⚠ Always download your ZIP files before closing. Edited photos and categorisations cannot be recovered once the tab is closed.
Is FrameSort safe to use with wedding and client photos?+

Yes, completely. Because your photos never leave your device, there is no privacy risk to your clients. You are not uploading their images to a third-party service. FrameSort is essentially an offline tool that happens to be delivered via a web browser.

Supported File Types
What file formats does FrameSort support?+

Currently supported formats:

  • JPG / JPEG — all cameras and phones
  • PNG — lossless format
  • WebP — modern web format
  • HEIC / HEIF — iPhone default format (iOS 11 and later)

HEIC works natively on Safari. On Chrome and Firefox, HEIC files are accepted but some may not decode depending on the browser version — if you shoot on iPhone and use Chrome, exporting as JPEG from your iPhone Photos app is the most reliable option.

Does FrameSort support RAW files (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG)?+

Not yet. RAW files require server-side processing — browsers cannot decode camera RAW formats natively. This is a technical limitation of all browser-based tools, not just FrameSort.

RAW support is on our roadmap as a future feature requiring a server component. Pro plan buyers will get early access when it launches.

For now: export JPEG copies from Lightroom, Capture One, or your camera’s companion app, then process those through FrameSort.
How many photos can I process at once?+

Starter plan: up to 500 photos per batch.
Pro plan: up to 1,000 photos per batch.

These limits exist because all processing happens in your browser’s memory. Exceeding them can cause the browser to slow down or run out of memory. If you have more photos, process them in separate batches.

How the AI Works
How does FrameSort detect blurry photos?+

FrameSort uses a technique called Laplacian Variance — a standard computer vision method for measuring image sharpness. It analyses the edges in each photo and measures how much detail is present. Sharp photos have high variance; blurry photos have low variance.

This is the same approach used by professional photography software. It’s reliable for motion blur, focus blur, and camera shake — though it may occasionally misidentify intentionally soft-focus or bokeh-heavy portraits as blurry. You can always override any decision manually.

How are Best Picks selected?+

Each photo receives a score from 0 to 100 based on three factors:

  • Sharpness — 50 points (Laplacian variance blur detection)
  • Exposure quality — 25 points (penalty for over or underexposed pixels)
  • Brightness balance — 25 points (reward for good tonal range)

Photos are then grouped into clusters of similar shots (e.g. all photos from one family portrait pose). Within each cluster, the highest-scoring photo is selected as the Best Pick.

You can override any Best Pick selection manually by clicking the category dropdown on any card.

What does “AI Edited” mean?+

When FrameSort detects that a photo is technically usable but has an exposure problem (too bright or too dark), it applies an automatic correction and places the photo in the AI Edited category instead of rejecting it.

The correction is subtle — it adjusts brightness and contrast using standard values. It’s not a replacement for professional editing, but it recovers photos that would otherwise be lost, giving you more usable keepers from every shoot.

Pro users can also apply manual corrections using the 8-slider editor for full control.

What are the three analysis modes?+

Full Analysis — the complete pipeline. Detects blur, checks exposure, applies auto-corrections, groups similar photos, and picks the best from each group. Best for wedding and event photography.

Quick Cull — only detects blur and bad exposure. Skips clustering and best picks. Fastest mode — ideal when you just want to quickly remove unusable photos from a large batch.

Best Picks Only — only groups similar photos and selects the best from each. Skips quality checking entirely. Use this when you already know your photos are technically good and just want one winner from each series of similar shots.

Future updates and improvements to the plan you purchased are included at no additional cost.

What is your refund policy?+

Technical Questions
Which browsers work best with FrameSort?+

Chrome is recommended for the best performance and highest photo batch limits. Firefox and Edge also work well. Safari works and is the best choice for processing iPhone HEIC photos natively.

Avoid using mobile browsers for large batches — processing 500–1000 photos requires significant memory, and mobile browsers have tighter limits. Use a laptop or desktop for large shoots.

The tool is running slowly. What should I do?+

FrameSort processes photos using your device’s CPU. On older or lower-spec machines, large batches can take longer. Try these steps:

  • Close other browser tabs and applications to free up memory
  • Use Chrome for best JavaScript performance
  • Split a 500-photo batch into two batches of 250 if processing feels slow
  • Use Quick Cull mode instead of Full Analysis — it’s significantly faster
  • Restart your browser before starting a large batch
Will FrameSort work without an internet connection?+

Yes, after the page has fully loaded. The photo analysis itself requires no internet — it all runs locally. However, you need internet for the initial page load, Google sign-in, and payment processing.

If you’re working on location, load the tool at home/studio first, then you can process photos without internet at the venue.

Does the editor (Pro) save changes to the original file?+

No. The editor is completely non-destructive. Your original uploaded files are never modified. When you apply edits and click Save, FrameSort creates a new edited version in memory. Your original is always preserved and accessible via the “Original” view in the editor.

When you export the ZIP, edited photos are exported as new JPEG files at 93% quality — your originals on your hard drive remain untouched.
